We’re tackling issues. We’re raising awareness. We’re communicating.

Damage Prevention Council of Florida

Mission

The Damage Prevention Council of Florida serves as a collaborative forum for excavators, underground utility owners and operators, line locators, enforcement entities, and other damage prevention stakeholders. By fostering open dialogue and understanding diverse perspectives, we work collaboratively to develop solutions that enhance safety and minimize damage to underground facilities.

DPC Structure

The DPC of Florida is organized into regional councils, each led by a chair, vice chair and secretary. These regional councils focus on identifying local challenges, with members working collectively to devise strategies for safer excavation practices and reducing utility damage. Meetings are held quarterly - or more frequently as necessary.

Chair: Conducts the regional DPC, helps secure locations for meetings, lines up meal or snack sponsor, and works with the 811 safety education liaison to set an agenda.

Vice Chair: Assists the chair carry out his or her duties and runs the DPC when the chair is absent.

Secretary: Assists the liaison with managing online participation as necessary, documents key takeaways from the meeting, and takes photos of the meetings or designates someone else to take photos. The secretary also manages the attendance sheet.

811 Safety Education Liaison: Oversees the overall operations of the Regional DPC including setting the meeting agenda, facilitating discussion and decision-making process, documenting attendance, and sending out meeting invitations.
